our journey

Our mission at Love’s Journey Boutique is to provide high quality products that tell a story to our customers; to be inspired by and to love.

Love’s Journey Boutique was founded in 2020. Our CEO is a Haitian woman born in Port-au Prince, Haiti and raised in the United States. Love Danestan has started her journey to beautifully display her rich cultural and ethnic background as well as its history in a positive light. She is a firm believer that with God anything is possible.

Throughout our site, you will notice a significant moving piece of Neg Mawon also known as the “fugitive slave”. It was originally created by Haitian Sculptor/ artist Albert- Mangones. The Neg Mawon shown with the leg extended with broken chain at the ankle indicating the spirit of fighting for freedom, a machete in the right hand displaying the strength to fight and his left hand holds to conch shell to his lips. The conch shell was often used as trumpet to assemble people.

We also present a beautiful lady sitting confidently while sewing two fabrics together. The beautiful lady represents a Haitian heroine named Catherine Flon. She has inspired Love Danestan by her resiliency, bravery, and compassion towards her country; to also have made such a great impact in the Haitian Revolution.
Moreover, when the Haitian revolution began on August 22, 1791, Catherine Flon’s family was one of the many families to disperse from their homes searching for safety and freedom from the Revolutionary war. She made the toughest decision to not flee the country along with her loved ones and remained behind to help fight for freedom. Though, she was not only a seamstress but also a nurse. She served in the revolutionary war to attend to the wounded fellow soldiers in a combat zone by keeping herself and others secure and well. Catherine Flon was a strong-willed, fearless courageous and compassionate symbolic heroine in Haiti’s history.

Today, Heroine Catherine Flon is celebrated for sewing the first flag of the independent black Republic of Haiti in May 18, 1803 in Arcahaie and has also become figure of admiration amongst Haitian women to have sacrificed her own well-being, so we can proudly raise our flag high in unity and with honor.
